Mrs. Hughes was formerly Miss Nancy Hattie Altizer and was reared at Cherokee, San Saba county, and was married to James Hughes December 5th, 1900. To them one sone was born, Odra Hughes. She professed a hope in Christ and was united with the Church of Christ in 1910 and during the intervening years she has lived a consistent Christian. Some two or three years ago she was stricken with a complication of troubles for which she underwent an operation in the hope that her health would be recovered, but her condition gradually grew worse until death relieved her of her sufferings.
When we stand at the bedside of our loved ones and watch the flame of life slowly but surely wasting itself in the desperate fight against disease and realize that the fight is fruitless, we cannot under the unfathomable mysteries of God, but when we too, have made the last fight against the inevitable, and surrender to the grim monster, death, and shall have our weary spirit borne to the throne of God; when the veil of doubt and darkness has been lifted and we are permitted to see the working of God, we will understand the mysteries and rejoice that His will was done.
The bereaved father, son and other relatives have the profoundest sympathy of every one in their dark hour of sorrow.
