SILVIS, Ill. — Betty M. Furnald, age 79, of Silvis, Ill., and formerly of Milan, Ill., died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at her residence.
There will be no visitation or services. A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date. Inurnment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.
Betty was born on May 12, 1930, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Duffy and Bernice (Collins) Walker, and raised in Ottumwa. She married Bruce Everett Furnald on February 8, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Furnald had worked as a grocery cashier and waitress at various locations. She enjoyed traveling and working together with her husband in the garden. She had lived in Mesa, Ariz., Oregon, and Milan.
Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Bruce Furnald, Silvis; son, Michael Furnald, Moline; sister, Mary Johns, Michigan; brothers, Robert (Jane) Walker, Moline, John (Helen) Walker, Eddyville, Iowa; grandchildren, Colt (Laura) Furnald, Chicago, Ill., Jodi Furnald, Westmont, Ill., Rachel (Pete) Jeffrey, Sioux City, Iowa; and great grandchildren, Brook and Brett Jeffrey.
Her parents, a son, Danny, and a brother, Joe Walker, preceded her in death.
