Melva J. Lunceford, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2003 at the home of her son in Provo, Utah. Melva was born October 1, 1914 in Tabiona, Utah to Hyrum Rollo and Preal Michie Jones. She was raised in Tabiona and Provo. In her early years, Melva taught school in Duchesne and Eureka. In 1939 Melva married Kenneth Lunceford in Nephi, Utah. She was a long-time resident of Orem where she and Ken worked together raising and selling fruit. He passed away in 1991. Melva enjoyed writing poetry.

She is survived by her sons K.C. (Annette) Lunceford, Provo; Wayne (Kate) Lunceford, Bothel, WA; Sheldon (Kathy) Lunceford, West Jordan, UT; Trent Lunceford, St. George, UT; 25 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Rollo Jones, Don Jones, and sisters Yvonne Perry , LaPreal Kezerian, and Dorothy Powell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Relief Society Room of the Pleasant View Chapel, 650 E. Stadium Avenue in Provo. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary of Orem.
