St Paris -April 12, 1901
Last Sunday, Easter Day, April 7th, closed the last earthly event for John Largent of Mad River Twp. He was laid to rest in Myrtle Tree Cemetery beside his wife. Mr Largent was born near where he died in November, 1825. He married Mrs Artemicia McMorran, daughter of John Wiant, and the widow of James McMorran, who lived eight years after their marriage. Their family of four, all girls, grew to womanhood except the youngest, Lola M, who died eight years ago near the death of her mother. The eldest daughter, Thirza, was married to Rev Hamlin and removed to Lawrenceville, IN, where she died leaving a little daughter which the grandparents took to rear. Thriza also died within a few months of the daughter Lola also leaving Mr Largent alone, bereft entirely of his family. Mrs Largents daughter, Barbara McMorran, had married a Rev Jones in about 1870 and gone west. Their daughter Eliza Ann married Mr Joseph Eckrote. She also died leaving two children. He leaves his granddaughter Mrs Steinberger, his niece Mrs Sarah Schooler and his siter, Mrs Charles Norman, widow of Amos Norman to mourn his death. The funeral services were by Rev Carney of the Baptist Church of St Paris.
