Mrs Cleone Martin, the daughter of Arthur and Gladys Best, was born at Oakes on Dec 19th 1938. Here she received her education and grew to womanhood. On Nov 30th 1957 she was united in marriage to Daniel Martin at Oakes. Following their marriage, Mr and Mrs Martin made their home in Minneapolis for five years and for the past 17 years have lived in Omaha, NE. Mrs Martin had been employed by the Sears Roebuk CO for the past twenty-two years.
She died at Omaha on Oct 3rd having reached the age of 40 yrs, 9 months and 14 days.
She is survived by her husband Daniel of Omaha; her Mother, Mrs Gladys Best, of Oakes; two brothers, Larry of Oakes and Daryl of Grand Forks, and a half-brother, Dick Fiala.
A wake service was held at the John Gentlemen Mortuary in Omaha on Thursday evening.
Funeral services were held at St Charles Catholic Church in Oakes on Monday, Oct 8th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Edward McDonald officiating. Mrs Jeff Gross was organist and Mr Garth Zieman was soloist.
The following were casket-bearers: Wayne Rehovsky, Marvin Tschida, James Featherstone, Thomas Orn, Timothy Lulay and Richard Johnson.
Interment was in the Oakes View Cemetery with the Haugen-Baldwin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
