Veneta was born Feb. 23, 1922, to Joseph Austin Bodily and Rhoda Maria Page. She grew up in Fairview, Idaho. Veneta passed away Oct. 2, 2014, in the family home in Cub River, Idaho.
At an early age, Veneta learned good work habits as she thinned beets with her mother. These work habits lasted her lifetime. She went to Fairview School for eight years. She was chosen in the seventh grade to be Health Queen and was captain of the school softball team.
Veneta met Alvaro G. Burbank at a dance she attended with her father. This dance lasted a lifetime. Veneta and Alvaro were married in the Logan LDS Temple on Nov. 24, 1936. They made their home in Cub River.
Veneta prepared many meals in her 11 year career with the Preston School District followed by 10 years of cooking meals for the Senior Citizens in Franklin County.
Veneta loved to dance, quilt, crochet, ride horses and spend time with her senior citizen friends.
Veneta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in every organization within the Church. She was pleased to serve an LDS mission in Washington D.C. and served in the Logan LDS Temple for many years.
Veneta is survived by her eight children, DeVere (LaRue) Burbank, Sharon Nelson, Lynn (Bonnie) Burbank, Kathryn Patton, Alan Dee (Joan) Burbank, Dan (Vondella) Burbank, Anneta (Layne) Sharples, and Lesa (Mark) Ricks. She is survived by brothers and sisters, Irene Bodily, Ronda Bodily, Morris Gregory and Earl (Lucille) Bodily. Veneta has left behind a large posterity: 51 grandchildren, 138 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.
Veneta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvaro Burbank, sons-in-law, Ted Nelson and Charlie Patton, one grandson, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also precede her in death, Ned Bodily, Emma (Ned) McCracken, Garth Bodily, Afton (Pete) Corbridge, Janece Gregory, Freda (Eddie) Buckles and Josephine Bodily.
The family would like to give special thanks to Access Hospice for the love and care shown to our mother.
Funeral services will be held in the Mapleton LDS Church house on at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Prior to the funeral, there will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. There will also be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Webb Mortuary, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho.
