Amelia Smith Jeanes, age 63, entered into rest on April 9, 2010, following a tragic automobile accident. She was born in San Augustine on October 7, 1946, to Geraldine (Epps) and the late Robert Wayne "Buster" Smith.
Mrs. Jeanes served her community in many ways. She was the City Secretary and the local Registrar. Later she served her church as the secretary there. She was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in San Augustine. Also she helped the community as a member of the Womens Service League. She enjoyed many hours of fellowship as a member of the Red Hat Club.

She is survived by her husband Larry Jeanes of San Augustine; daughtrer Anissa Smith and husband Scott of San Augustine; granddaughter Erica Adams of San Augustine; mother Geraldine Smith of San Augustine; sisters Sharon Mathews and husband John of San Augustine and Beth Boudoin and husband Myron of Lake Arthur, Louisiana; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Wayne "Buster" Smith.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Monday, April 12, First Baptist Church of San Augustine with Rev. Frank Holrath officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 11, 2010, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in Wyman Roberts Chapel. Those serving as pallbearers are Edwin Henley, Richard Epps, Mark Tiller, Ricky SmithLee Smith and Derrell Bennett.
