A native of Hunter Township (Watts Mill) of Laurens, S.C., Mr. Allen was a son of the late Arthur Harvey and Lizzie Sydney Horan-Allen.
Mr. Allen was retired from J.P. Stevens Mills in the Dunean Community. He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Erma Jean Bennett-Allen; three sons, Charles E. Allen and wife, Ophelia, of Mauldin, S.C., Donald R. Allen and wife, Harriett, of Fountain Inn, S.C. and Grady F. Allen and wife, Deborah, of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Joyce J. Nalley and husband, Marvin, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Barbara A. Clark of Hickory Tavern, S.C.; two sisters, Maude Boyte of Camden, S.C. and Sybil Pratt of Longview, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery West with Graceland Mortuary in charge.
