Florence Noland Elmer was the daughter of David Evan & Mary Emma Matthews Noland, both of Indiana. Florence was born in Mt. Ayer, Indiana on Jan 21, 1909 and resided in Jackson, Newton, Indiana but later moved to Parke Co., Indiana.

Florence was married to George Darrow Elmer. According to Lowell Noland, Florence's brother, Florence contracted tuberculosis because she nursed her husband, who had it first. She caught it from him. They lived for awhile in Biltmore, near Asheville, North Carolina, which was a haven for people with tuberculosis at the time. She was a resident of Arizona for 33 months. She died at 32 years of age due to tuberculosis.
