Mollie Brown first married John Isham Alford on December 29, 1878 in Meriwether County, Georgia. He died approximately two years later, leaving her and one child (Sarah Elmira, my great-great grandmother). Mollie later married William Brown and moved to Texas.

Mollie's father is John G. Brown.

Funeral services for Mrs. W.M. Brown, 80, were held at the Hays Spring Cemetery Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Kenneth Hiner conducting the service.

Mrs. Brown died Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 1941, at 2:20 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Huff, following a two-months long illness, her health having failed her two years ago.

She moved to Texas more than fifty years ago. She was born June 11, 1860. During middle age she joined the Primitive Baptist Church. In 1877 she was married to John I. Alford in Georgia. To them one child was born, Mrs. W. S. Rogers (Sara Elmira Rogers). They were married only two and one half years when God called him away from her. In later life she was married to W. M. Brown, better known as Billie. He died in 1927 at the age of 72. To them nine children were born, one boy and eight girls.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. W.S. Rogers of Scurry and Mrs. Eugene Huff of Grapeland, thirty two grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Pall bearers were her grandsons: Darrell and John I. Keen, and Jesse Rogers,, Buford Morrison and Harvey Huff.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Grapeland Funeral Home.
