Martin Walker Tankersley, affectionately known as 'Doc,' married his first wife in about 1868; Alice Abbey gave him the following children:

When Martin was 81 he applied for his Civil War Pension, having served in the CSA Calvary. He also fulfilled his duty toward the State of Texas in Ranger service. Per his daughter, Mattie Ruth, Martin was a pig farmer.
