Daughter of George Washington Clegg and Mary Green.
Wife of John Minus Stephens
Eunice owned the old home of her grandfather, Dr. James Clegg, at Wadley, Alabama which had also belonged to her father, George Washington Clegg, whom she took care of in his declining years. The Clegg family reunion has been held here for more than 60 years. Some say she was a saint. Eunice was an old maid and took care of everybody. She did not marry until about 56 years old. Eunice worked in the local bank, and loaned money to almost everyone in town.

Eunice was named for her Aunt Eunice. She was her generation's genealogist for the Clegg family and was a big contributor to the book THE CLEGGS OF OLD CHATHAM. She had the Dr. James Clegg Bible, his "squeeze box" accordion, and the sheep skin diploma which he received from Georgia Medical College. This diploma was stolen from the safety deposit box at the bank.
