DIED- DOE- In Clifton, Oct. 30, 1883 of whooping cough, Charley G., son of Greenleaf and Minerva Doe aged 3 years 10 months, 5 days.
Darling Charlie, thou art sleeping
In the cold and silent grave,
And your parents lonely weeping
For that life we could not save.
Ah! we miss thy gentle footsteps
Lightly boarding over the floor
And we miss that childish voice
Silent now forever more.
Yes,dear Charley, thou has left us-
Left us in so short of time
Gone to meet your blessed Savior
In that bright and glorious chime
Dear Kind friends, cease thy weeping
For we know he's free from pain;
He is not dead but only sleeping
And your loss will be his gain.
