OBITUARY:

Joseph Ronald Feather, 61, of Kingwood died at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 5:25 p.m. His passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. He is the son of the late Joseph Bunner Feather and late Virgie Catherine Goff of Masontown. He is survived by his brother Gary Ray Feather and wife Deborah Lee Huggins Feather of Reedsville.

He is survived by his wife Marion Fay Miller Feather, 62 of Kingwood. He was married in holy matrimony to Marion on February 14, 1970 in Oakland, MD. This year they celebrated 38 wonderful years together. He is survived by his daughter Lesa Jean Feather, 35 and son Joshua Daniel Feather, 25 of Kingwood. He had a daughter, the late Veronica Joy Feather who died just 3 days after a premature birth and a son, the late Michael Dean Feather who died in the womb as a result of an auto accident.

He is survived by brother-in-laws, Jon Max Miller and wife Carol Appleby Miller of Bruceton Mills and Marvin Kay Miller and wife Lana McCutcheon Miller of Woodbridge, VA. He has four nephews, Steve Walton Miller and wife Wanda Toothman Miller, sons Nicholas and Casey Miller of Fairfax, VA, Jason Matthew Miller of Dover, DE, Jeremy Ray Feather, wife Stephanie Sinsel Feather, step-daughter Felicity Dawn Bolyard of Reedsville and Jacob Lee Feather of Reedsville. He has one niece, Anne Elizabeth Miller of Woodbridge, VA.

Ronnie, as family and friends called him, graduated from Valley High School in Masontown in 1964. Out of high school, he joined the Navy and served in Vietnam during his four year service. He was employed by Comsat, now AT&T at the Etam Earth Station from 1975 until his retirement in May 2007.

He was very active in his high school band playing the drums which he loved so much. His talent led him to start a garage band with a few friends which were called "The Polyoscos." He loved his drums and would set them up in the living room from time to time and play for his family. He enjoyed his family and friends and took pride in planning the annual Feather reunion held in August. He was the trustee and treasurer of the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Long Hollow, Valley District in Preston County, WV. He participated in the American Cancer Society "Walk for Life" event held annually in the spring. He loved collecting puzzles of all types, especially the hand held brain teasers that were often times very complicated. He was a very analytical guy, making sure that all things were precise and exact when it came to household projects. He was a good provider and worked very hard to provide a good life for his wife and children. He loved telling stories of his trips around the world during his time in the service.

His children most remember how he would always try to include fun in all that they did growing up, from hiding Easter eggs to helping with Social Studies and 4-H projects. He was an understanding and very patient father when it came to childhood predicaments such as untangling toys from his daughter's naturally curly hair and redecorating the Christmas tree after his son accidentally knocked it over while trying to climb it.

Although his retirement was shortened here on earth, he will continue to celebrate one of the most vibrant retirements imaginable in Heaven with his family and friends that have passed before him. He will be dearly missed.

Family and Friends may call at Lobb's Funeral Home in Kingwood, WV from…..with Pastor Derek Syruws officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Long Hollow.

The family is grateful to his family physician, John Keefe, M.D., of Kingwood and the Hospice Care Corporation for all of their care and support throughout this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice Care Corp., PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 or to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, Kingwood, WV 26537.
