Services for the Rev. Elmer P. Merritt, 69, of 406 W. Camp St., East Peoria, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at LeRoy Schmidt Memorial Chapel.
The Rev. R.L. Goode will officiate, and burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the memorial chapel.
Rev. Merritt died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Methodist Hospital where he was admitted Thursday.
He was born in Decatur, Tex., April 9, 1905, a son of Joseph and Bonnie Price Merritt. He married Eldora Summers Aug. 7, 1955, in Compton, Calif.
He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 18 years and retired in 1951. He was a retired lay minister of Christian Assembly Church of East Peoria.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Jack of Pacoima, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Dave (Ola) Carter of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; one stepson, Bill Andereck of Freeport, Tex.; and one stepdaughter, Mrs. John (Wilva) Benedict of East Peoria.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Tank of Sylmar, Calif.; Mrs. Jewel DeGroff of San Bernadino, Calif.; and Mrs. Nell Conn of Childress, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Rev. Merritt was preceded in death by three brothers.
