He was the son of Jonas and Pamela, (Wilcox) Camp

He was living in Bennington after he was married and his children were born there. About 1852-3 he moved back to Pownal, VT.

Jonathan served and died during the Civil War. He enlisted on 12 Nov 1863 into the Union Army, Company A, 2nd Infantry Regiment for Vermont. Residence was Pownal, VT. Killed 21 Aug 1864 at Charles Town, WV; burial location unknown.

Listed in the 1860 Pownal, Bennington, Vermont census at age 56 b. Vermont along with his wife Polly age 50 b. Vermont and children Lyman age 22, Mary age 20, Henry age 19, Charles age 15, Rachiel age 13, and Johny age 8 and Mary age 18 all b. Vermont.
