Mary was born June 20, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Mildred (Ganzer) Busch. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Crystal. Mary graduated from Grace High School in 1975.
Mary was united in marriage to Stephen Paape on July 10, 1982 in Leader. After their marriage the couple resided in the Twin Cities and in the mid-1980s moved to Alexandria. Mary worked as a clerk at the Douglas County Hospital for 12 years. For the past seven years she has battled cancer and been actively involved in the cancer Relay For Life.
Mrs. Paape died July 25, 1999 at her home. She is survived by her husband Stephen Paape; son, John Paape of Alexandria; mother Millie Busch of Crystal; four brothers and one sister: Jeff (Judy) Busch of Eden Prairie; Charles (Aida) Busch) of Yorba Linda, CA; Wendy and husband Stephen Reller of Owatonna; Rick (Claudia) Busch of Maple Grove; Tim (Kris) Busch of Andover; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Busch in 1993; brother Frederick; and sister Susan.
Mass of Christian Burial was held July 29, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Al Ludwig officiating. Pallbearers were Kurt Paape, Chris Paape, Jeff Busch, Chuck Busch, Rick Busch and Tim Busch. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Alexandria. Services directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Home.
