Gerald was the son of John Joseph and Edna Belle (Armstrong) Bryan. He graduated from Granger High School. Was a welder on the Liberty ships in Portland, Or. during WW2. After the war he moved back to the Yakima Valley, making his home and raising his family in Sunnyside, WA. He worked 31 years for Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District, Started as a ditch rider, then watermaster and retired as assistant manager. He was a member of the Sunnyside Grace Brethern Church where he was coach of the boys church basketball team. He married Dorothy Ray in 1933 and they had two daughters, 1. Shirley who married Frank Bray and had 5 children, Gerald, Judy, Sheri, Melinda and Cindy. 2.Helen, who married Forest Cole and had 2 children, Troy Dean and Tammy DeAnn.
Youngest grand daughter, Tammy DeAnn Cole, passed away February 29, 2016 from cancer.
