"William A Davis, 51, a veteran of WWII died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital here. For the past two years he had been in declining health. A resident of RR 2, Greensburg, Mr. Davis was a retired farmer and former school bus driver. Mr. Davis was theson of Densil and Versil Woods Davis and was born in Decatur Co on March 2, 1922. He was reared south of Greensburg and was a member of the Mt Pleasant Methodist Church. During WWII, he served in the China-Burma Theatre. Throughout his adult life, he had engaged in farming, at one time residing in the St Paul area. He had lived at his home on RR 2, Greensburg since 1954. For 15 years, Mr. Davis served as school bus driver for the Greensburg School System. His marriage to Imogene Cleland took place in Decatur Co on March 3, 1947. Besides the widow, he is survived by his father, Densil Davis of RR 2, Greensburg, a son James D Davis of RR 1, Kingston OH; two daughters Mrs. Gary (Sheila) Stone of RR 2 Greensburg and Miss Debbie Davis at home; and a grandson Andrew William Stone. A brother and three sisters, who survive are: Glenn Davis of RR 1, St Paul; Mrs. Gilbert (Charlotte) Fortner, and Miss Mary Lou Davis, both of RR 3, Greensburg; and Mrs. James (Lenora) Larkin of Loogootee. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. The Rev. John Todd of Madison and the Rev. Paul Bayne of Osgood, pastor of Mt Pleasant Methodist Church, will conduct the rites. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery."
