James "Jimmy" Doss Sr., 85, of Rockdale, passed away April 6, 2010.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Services for James "Jimmy" Doss Sr., 85, of Rockdale were held Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Chapel with Rev. Rick Hertless of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Mr. Doss died Tuesday, April 6, at his home in Rockdale.

He was born Sept. 14, 1924, in the Gay Hill community near Rockdale to Richard Antonio Doss and Emma Elizabeth (Braun) Doss. Mr. Doss moved to Rockdale in 1988.

He married Jeffy Brown on Jan. 12, 1946, in Cameron.

He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, was a farmer and rancher and had also worked as a river pump operator.

Mr. Doss enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, gardening and being with his family. He also loved to "Ride in the Country."

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emory, Dan and Nolan P. Doss; and two sisters, Irene Wells and Ola Crump.

Survivors are his wife, Jeffy Doss of Rockdale; a son, James Doss Jr. and wife Denice of Rockdale; a daughter, Donna White and husband Steve of Lexington; a brother, Arnold "Blackie" Doss of Yorktown; his special friend and caregiver, Sandra Stutts of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Scott Doss and wife Gena, Derek Doss, Ashli Doss, Jim Parker and wife Laurie, Jeanie Willard and husband Dennis; and seven great-grandchildren, Rhett Doss, Reef Doss, Roxli Doss, Kassi Willard, Logan Willard, Megan Parker and Brittany Ison.

Pallbearers were Brian Davenport, Greg Brinkley, Ricky Doss, Scott Doss, Derek Doss and Jim Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Willard, Logan Willard and Rhett Doss
