11 Nov 1952: Mrs. Catherine E. (Naftzinger) Cassel, 80, a lifelong resident of Lebanon County, died at 9:55 p.m. yesterday at the Lebanon County Home hospital, where she had been a patient for the past few days. She had been ill for approximately three months and was bedfast about half that time. She was born in Lebanon County, a daughter of the late Jared and Emma (Rudy) Naftzinger. Her husband, John H. Cassel preceded her in death 51 years ago. Surviving Mrs. Cassel are three daughters, Mrs. Ella Wagner, Myerstown; Mrs. Manuel B. Palace, Philadelphia; and Mrs. Raymond Jackson, Philadelphia; and two sons, John H., Lebanon, and Clayton, Fredericksburg, where Mrs. Cassel lived until recently. Two daughters preceded her in death. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Mary Rudy also survives. [Lebanon Daily News]
