He married Velma Thompson in Caruthersville, MO on March 28, 1942. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Milan, TN. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. He lived in Plano for 20 years, retiring from Caterpillar in 1978 as a machinist, then he moved to Milan, TN and returned to Sandwich, IL in 1998.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2000 at the Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan Tennessee with the Pastor Bill Lickliter officiating. Burial will be at Gibson County Memory Garden in Humbolt, TN. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials can be directed to Fox Valley Visiting Nurse Assn. (Hospice), 1245 Corporate Blvd., 5th Floor, Aurora, IL 60504. Local arrangements were handled by Turner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
He is survived by one daughter, B. Diane (John) Klene of Sandwich, IL; two grandchildren, Brenda Beck and Michael Klene; three great grandchildren, Johnna Beck, Jeremy Klene and Cheyenne Hill; one brother J.E. (Lee) Bailey of Hardy, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Velma; his parents and one sister, Ruth Hampton.
