Magdalen A. Pfannenstiel, 92, Hays, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Halstead. She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Victoria to William and Magdalena (Kessler) Geist.

She married Jake R. Pfannenstiel on May 16, 1938, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1963.

She retired from Travenol on Oct. 4, 1982. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Pfannenstiel and wife, Cynthia, Pittsburg, and Gary Pfannenstiel and wife, Claudia, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Margie Bailey, Berryton, and Mary Forrester and husband, Lee, Kerrville, Texas; six grandchildren, David Bailey and wife, Rose, Kansas City, Mo., Michelle Hawkins and husband, Ken, Halstead, Aaron Forrester, Salina, Lukas W. Pfannenstiel, Baltimore, Md., Lacey Mashinter and husband, Bryan, Lakewood, Colo., and Lindsay M. Pfannenstiel, Lawrence; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Anton, Adam, Joseph, Michael, Isidor and Anselm; and seven sisters, Anna Margaret, Margaret, Eva, Kathryn, Melisina, Appolina and Agedia.

Services were today at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas, 2505 N. Main St., North Newton, KS 67117. Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
