Funeral services are scheduled Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Moroni East LDS Ward Chapel for James E. Christensen, 24, and LDS missionary who was killed Sunday, Jan. 2, 1977 in Eldorado, Ill.

Mr. Christensen had attended Utah Technical College at Provo.

He was born Sept. 26, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Eslie and Gwen Watson Christensen.

He received his early education in Moroni and graduated from North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant. He also attended Snow College. While in Provo, he was a member of the BYU 100th Branch and worked for Deseret Industries in the office.

At the time of his death, Mr. Christensen was serving in the Kentucky-Louisville Mission. He had been there for 22 months.

Survivors include his parents; four brothers and two sisters, Brent D. Christensen, Fountain Green, Sanpete County; Garth Christensen, serving in the Oregon-Portland LDS Mission; Janette, Lisa, Craig and Mark Allen Christensen, all of Moroni; grandmothers, Mrs. Artena Christensen, Moroni; and Mrs. Eva Watson, Nipomo, Calif.

Friends may call at the Ursenbach Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. or at the Christensen home in Moroni Thursday two hours prior to services. Burial will be in Moroni City Cemetery.
