SPC Ronnie Shane "Hodgy" Hodges, United States Army, 24, of Rocky Mount, Va., passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010. He joined the Army in November 2004, served two tours in Iraq where he was an Artillery Infantryman. He was brave and adventurous, never met a stranger and enjoyed time with his many friends and family. Shane was preceded in death by his grandfathers, the Rev. Billy R. Martin and R. Eugene Hodges. Surviving are his parents, Ronnie and Tammy Hodges; children, Hayla G. Hodges and Chrissa M. Lundy; brother and sister-in-law, D. Justin and Jessica Hodges; nephews, Isaac and Jacob Hodges; sister, D. Nicole Hodges; grandparents, Louise Hodges Jr. and Sue Palmer; aunts and uncles, Gerald and B.J. Wagner, Davy and Denice Tilley, Leon and Janet Hodges, Darrell and Tina Wimmer, and Allen L. Martin; greatgrandparents, Stella M. Martin and Doris L. Hodges; "his babies," Tyler and Madison Wagner, and Kaitlyn Tilley; and special friends, Julia Rigney and Kaitlyn Lundy. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, from Rocky Mount Church of God with Pastor Travis Gore and Pastor Marla Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Family Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Rocky Mount Church of God, 1360 North Main Street, Rocky Mount.
