Frank DeForest Bennett probably learned Blacksmithing from his father, James DeForest Bennett, who according to city business records, was a Blacksmith by trade in Ithaca, Tompkins Co, NY.

Burial site in Riverview Cemetery, Sec 4, Lot S1/2-363 G#1 chosen because of it's location, across the river, looking down onto Oaks Park, Sellwood, OR where Frank Bennett, who worked at the park, and his wife Effie lived for many years. In 2007 the House in park still standing.

Frank Bennett worked for Edward Bollinger, owner of Oaks Park. Edward Bollinger started working as an electrician at Oaks Parks in 1905, the year it opened, and purchased the Oaks in 1925. Edward passed away in 1949 and his son Robert Bollinger purchased the park from his fathers widow. Robert Bollinger passed away in 2004 at the age of 95, but was still alive in 1997 and sent a written congratulations to Frank and Effie's Granddaughter, Sarah Jane Bennett Mertz and her husband Howard E. Mertz, when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering at the Oaks Park.
