Ruth Lavilla Ferguson Burnett, 86, former resident of Ninety Six, widow of D.L. Burnett, Jr., died April 6, 2010 at NHC of Mauldin.
Born in Lancaster, SC, August 13, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Hattie Jones Ferguson and John Barber Ferguson. She was a graduate of Erskine College and retired from Greenwood County School District having taught at Southside Junior High School and Ninety Six Elementary School. Mrs. Burnett was a member of Ninety Six Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Brannon and husband Bob of Greenville; a granddaughter, Kelly Miller and husband Geoff of Raleigh, NC; three great-grandchildren, Garrison, Katherine and Patrick Miller, all of Raleigh, NC. She was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Ferguson Palmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robin D. Fisher, Rev. Chuck Sprouse and Rev. Nathan Gilstrap officiating. Family burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six.
Pallbearers will be Julian Bryan, David Burnett, Keith Wallace, Wayne Burner, Steve Burnett, David Milner and Ben Milner.
The family is at the home of Jane and Bob Brannon, 16 Rollingreen Road in Greenville and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 Friday afternoon.
