Passed away @ the Veteran's Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
Delos Rogers Marble was the first man in Clay County to enlist in the Army during World War I.
He was later to serve in the famed Rainbow Division under General Douglas McArthur and fight in five major battles in France--Loraine Champayne, Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel, Battle of Belleau Woods adn Meuse Argonne.
Marble enlisted at Sheldon April 6, 1917, and took his training at Camp Dodge near Des Moines.
After his Army discharge march 28, 1919 at Camp Dodge, he returned to Spencer where he had lived most of his life. He was born June 10, 1890 at Percival.
His return to Civilian life was marked by frequent periods of hospitalizationin Sioux Falls. He now lies at North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.
Marble was a charter memeber of the Spencer American Legion Post No.1 and also belonged to the 40 and 8 and the DAV.
A flag, marking his service for his country, is being added this year to Spencer's Avenue of Flags at Riverside Cemetery where special Memorial Day sevices will be held.
