Services for Charles C. Reiter 68, Ft. Madison, and formerly of Spirit Lake were Thursday, March 7, 1991, at the Turner Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Spirit Lake. Rev. John Mustoe of Faith Gospel Assembly of Esterville, officiated. Military honors were conducted at the graveside by American Legio John W. Kidd Post 23 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4514.
Mr Reiter died Sunday, March 3, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born to Frank and Rosa (Frank) Reiter, April 29, 1922, at Terril. He attended school in Spirit Lake. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army in the European Theater.
He married Inez Marble in June, 1941. She died Feb. 27, 1944. He married Mildred Stammer June 9, 1946. She died Feb 26, 1969. He grew up in Spirit Lake, but lived in Perry from 1954 to 1980. He lived in Ft Madison for the past year and worked in plumbing and heating and air-conditioning.
Survivors include five sons, Virgil, Polk City;
Dan, Ft Madison; Michael, Ceder Rapids; and
David & William, both of Casper, WY; one daughter, Cheryl, Las Vegas, NV; four sisters, Faith Kelso, Kenosha, WI, Margaret Mitchell, Estherville, Beulah Emerson, Spirit Lake, and Maxine Thorn, Lake Park; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, one brother and one granddaughter.
Turner Funeral Home, Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
