Robert Douglas was the third son of Harry Sumner Douglas and brother to William Harrison Douglas Sr., who founded the Douglas Construction Company (circa 1904-1997) working with George H. Senne prior to the advent of the Senne Construction Company in 1914. The Douglas Construction Company was responsible for building several large projects around Topeka and Eastern Kansas plus a few buildings at Ft Riley. Robert successfully directed the Douglas Contruction CO upon his brothers retirement.
