Fordie S Coffey, 61, of Stearns, Ky., passed away Sunday, December 26, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was the son of the late Ruben Coffey and the late Alice Vaughn Coffey. Mr. Coffey was a retired coal miner and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Nelson Coffey of Stearns, Ky.; four sons: Brassfield Coffey of Rt. 1, Stearns, Ky., George L. Coffey of Liberty, Ky., Jerry L. Coffey of Dayton, Ky., and Ricky Coffey of Whitley City, Ky.; three daughters: Mrs. Alice Bell of Grants Lick, Ky., Mrs. Connie Phillips of Oneida, and Donna Kay Coffey of Rt. 2, Stearns, Ky.; two brothers: Sterling Coffey, and Homer Coffey, both of Stearns, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, at 2 p.m. at the Hickman Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. William Earl Woodson officiating. Burial was in the Barron Fork Cemetery. Hickman Funeral Home of Whitley City, Ky. was in charge of arrangements.
