Hoyt Fretwell, 54, Rt. 2, Leighton, died at his home Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. after a year's long illness. He was a native of Franklin County, but had made his home in Colbert County most of his life, having lived in Leighton the past 21 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a WWII veteran, member of VFW, Leighton Masonic Lodge, and had worked for TVA until his sickness a year ago.
Masons will have graveside Masonic rites.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the LaGrange Evangelist Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Kicker officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Henderson. The body will be at the residence until service time. Burial will be at Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Rachel Quinn Fretwell, Leighton; three sons, Kenneth B. Fretwell, U.S. Navy, Los Angeles, Larry H. Fretwell, and Allen W. Fretwell, Leighton; (step) mother, Mrs. Elsie (Henson) Fretwell, Russellville, three brothers, Jack and Billy Fretwell, Russellville, C. W. Fretwell Garden Grove, CA; four sisters, Mrs. Neal King, Los Angeles, Mrs. Hersial Devaney, Mrs. Henry Stanfield, all of Russellville.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Thompson, Lynwood McCormack, Ellis Ford, Jerry Lowery, Ronald Brumley, George Hall.
Spry Funeral Home of Sheffield is directing.
