Sarah was born in Bath in 1920, the daughter of the late Forest L. Barter and Mildred (Nightingale) Adams and stepfather Leon C. Adams.
While growing up on a farm in Benton, she attended Benton Elementary School, graduated from Clinton High School in 1937 and also attended the University of Maine at Orono. In 1949 she graduated from Peter Bent Brigham Hospital Nursing School in Boston.
For more than 20 years Sarah was employed as a licensed practical nurse. She retired from Mid Maine Medical Center, Thayer and Seton in Waterville in the 1980s.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Q. Adams; and sister-in-law, Effie Adams.
Sarah is survived by her brothers, Arthur Adams of Bear, Del., Leon Adams and his wife, Jean, of Benton; her children, Judith Pescinski and her husband, Frank, of Hill, N.H., Susan Kinzie of Loveland, Colo., Sarah Marie Weeks and her husband, Gene, of Ashburnham, Mass., David Drew and his wife, Ellen, of Penobscot; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Greenlawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton. (Morning Sentinel 4/7/2010)
