Tom Smith Kent, Jr.
Funeral services for Tom Smith Kent, Jr., 69, of Grapeland, was held at
2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec 22, in the First Baptist Church Grapeland. Rev.
Bland Kerby officaited and burial ws in the Grapeland City, Cemetery.
Pallbearers were G. L. Streetman, Barnett Jordan, George Murray, V. E.
Murray, Kelly Chapman andWarren Baker.
Mr. Kent died following a long illness at 10:27p.m. Tuesday, Dec 20, in a
Crockett hospital. He as born on Oct. 18, 1891, in the Reynard community of
Houston County. He was a retired merchant of Grapeland and also was
postmaster for twelve years.
Survivors are this widow, Mrs. Hazel Gentry Kent of Grapeland; seven sons,
Donald Kent of Bakersville, Calif., Charles Kent of Crockett, Tom S. Kent
III, and Dan G. Kent, both of Ft. Worth, Richard H. Kent of Mission, Kan.,
Harry D. Kent of Phoenix, Ariz., and Pat A. Kent of Grapeland; three
daughters, Mrs. Howell H. Smith of Webster, Mrs. Ernest E. Seamon of
Houston, Mrs. Montague E. Davis of New York City, N.Y.; one brother,
Leonard Kent of Eldorado, Texas; fifteen granchildren; six
great-granchildren.
Arrangements were by Hassell & Foster.
