Lera Jane Allen was engaged to marry William Grundy Whitlock when she was burned to death. She had already made her wedding dress and he had given her a ring. When she was laid out for burial, they put the wedding dress on her and Lonza Allen, her brother, gave the ring back to Will after the funeral
