OBITUARY:

Victory is hers. Our beautiful Lois defeated cancer on the 6th of April with her two sons in loving attendance. Throughout her three year battle with the disease she maintained her trademark gentleness and dignity. We, her family and friends, stand in awe of the strength she possessed: strength enough to face her fears while comforting ours. Lois was born on May 16, 1947 in Dorchester, TX to Perry Aiken and Claudine Head both of whom pre-deceased her. She was a life long resident of Mesquite, TX and a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Mesquite Elks Lodge #2404 where she served as its president for the year 1997-1998. Lois spent her life in service of others; her clients, her friends and her beloved family.

Her husband, Douglas Cannon, pre-deceased her in 2006.

She is survived by three sons: Tony, Jordan, and Randy Edwards of Mesquite, stepson Wendell (Susan) Cannon of Mineola, stepdaughter Tammie (Gary) Green of Terrell, sister Carolyn Duke of Mesquite, niece Connie (Kenny) Byrant of Frisco. and a host of faithful friends whose love and prayers sustained her throughout. She was mother, sister, aunt and friend to these, but most precious to her was her role as "MeMe" to her beloved grandchildren, Beau and Jake of Mesquite, step grandchildren Whitley and Caleb Cannon of Mineola, Stacie Caughron, and Misty West.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kartik Konduri and Dr. Robert Black and their staff for their compassionate endeavors on Lois' behalf.

Lois' picture testifies to her outward beauty. The loss that we, her family and friends feel testifies to the sweetness of her spirit, the purity of her love, the beauty of her soul. Goodnight, sweet Lois. We love you.

Sevice will be 11:00AM Saturday April 10, 2010 at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.
