John was a security guard for the Elyria schools, retiring in 1985. Before that he was a patrolman for the Elyria Police Department and a deputy for the Lorain County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Demyan was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, United Polish Club, American Legion Post 12, VFW Post 1079 and Elyria Moose Lodge, all in Elyria. He enjoyed camping.
He was preceded in death by his father, John; a sister, Ann Riddel; and a brother, Michael.
