Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 - 10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
Wally is survived by his wife, Louise Gulden of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Delmar and Sharon Gulden of Bloomington, Ted and Terry Gulden of Naperville, Illinois; grandsons, Scott Gulden of Burnsville, Brett Gulden of Savage; and great grandchildren, Michael Gulden and Andreha Gulden. He was preceded in death by his parents; 14 brothers and four sisters.
Wally was born on September 19, 1914 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Gerhard and Cornelia (Fischer) Gulden. On May 4, 1937 he married Louise Saffert at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Cottonwood Township, Brown County and the St. George area for eight years and then owned and operated a grocery store in Seaforth for two years. They then moved to New Ulm and he joined his nephew, Florian Schnobrich, in the Skelly Gas and Bulk Oil business in Searles from 1948 until 1979 when he retired. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and his family. He was a 60-year member of the St. Patrick's Council #1076, Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
