Joscelyn Arthur Hobday was born in Murree, India, the 3rd son and 3rd child of Col. E.A.P. Hobday and Nora Pottinger.

He was in WW1 in the 30th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force.

He married Daphne V. Brougham in 1924.

He married (2nd) Dorothy Gardner (Williams) Pinckard in Dec of 1944.
