Husband of Lenna Adams

Miss Lenna Adams was married August 20, 1900 to Arthur Adams. They were married at the old Carthage Collegiate Institute by Dr. Knight, who was the president of that institution and started housekeeping at Bower's Mill.

Mr. Adams was and early day teacher in Jasper County schools. He also was a miller and banker in later life. The family lived at various points in Jasper County, including LaRussell, Sarcoxie and Joplin, and for a time made their home in Monett.

At the time of his death was listed as a retired merchant, residiing in LaRussell, MO.

He was 77 years, 11 months and 28 days old when he passed away from heart disease and heart failure.

A Native of Bowers Mill, He Taught School as Young Man, Then Engaged in Electrical Business

Arthur Adams, retired merchant and a resident of LaRussell, died at 1:47 o'clock this morning in McCune-Brooks hospital where he had been a patient since June 19.
He suffered from a heart ailment and had been ill two months.

Mr. Adams was born July 18, 1865 at Bowers Mill. He would have been 78 years old Sunday. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams of Bowers Mill, and was married August 20, 1900 to Miss Lenna Adams.

He attended the college at Marionville and the State Teachers College at Warrensburg and as a young man taught at the Rusk and Blake schools. For a number of years he and his two sons, Lawrence and Harold, operated electrical supply stores in Sarcoxie and Monett. Mr. Adams retired about 10 years ago and made his home for a time in Joplin, moving from there to LaRussell.

Mr. Adams was a member of the LaRussell Methodist Church and the Masonic lodge there.

Surviving are his wife;
two sons;
*Col Lawrence Adams, stationed at Camp Davis, S.C.,
formerly of Joplin, and
*Harold H. Adams of Kansas City
and five grandchildren
