Gayle Hatch McMaster Smith was born July 27, 1910, in Morgan, Utah.

She died on April 2, 2010, at Christus St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City of natural causes, just a few months short of her 100th birthday.

She was the daughter of Joseph Lorin Hatch and Louise Lyerla Hatch. She had four brothers (LeMoyne, Sharon, Berl and Jules) and two sisters (Olivia and Hjmar) who preceded her in death.

Gayle married Robert F. McMaster on January 7, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple. Robert passed away in October 1979. They lived in Brigham City for nineteen years, Salt Lake City, for twenty-nine years, and at 745 East 900 North in Bountiful for twenty-two years.

She married Marvin Smith in April 1989. Marvin passed away in December 2002. They lived in Salt Lake City.

Her family was her greatest joy. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She was a temple worker for over twenty-five years. She also volunteered at the South Davis Community Hospital (now Lakeview Hospital). Her hobbies were crochet and needlepoint. She crocheted more than 3500 caps for the LDS Humanitarian project.

She is survived by four children: Heather McMaster (Subhash Kithany) Scott McMaster (Sandee), Dennis McMaster (Kathleen), and Kathey Fotes (Michael), four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.

Interment will take place in the Brigham City Cemetery.
