Cazzie Nathaniel Tullis was born on 13 February 1885 near Hog Mountain, Georgia, to William Holby Tullis and Iantha C Hannah. As a boy, he lived by Peter Puckett Mill Pond on Peter Puckett Mill Road and went to school at Hog Mountain. Cass married Bessie Lee Austin on 7 February 1909. They had eight children. Cazzie Tullis died, 17 May 1965, aged 80, in Alabama and was buried at Wesley's Chapel Cemetery in DeKalb County.
