Death of Mary R. Thomson
Mrs. Mary R Thomson, a pioneer rsident of Union, died at the Pursel home in Union, Wednesday, May 4, 1927, aged 82 years, 9 months and 6 days.
The funeral will take place from Cock Bros. Chapel, Friday, may 6, at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Mary R. Thomson, widow of J. B. Thomson, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. E. E. Pursel, at Union, Oregon, May 4th, 1927. Mary Rebekah McComas was born in Indiana July 9th, 1844. She came to La Grand, Oregon, in 1872, and was married there to Jeremiah B. Thomson. From there they moved to Union in 1875, where she has since resided. Three children were born to them. Mrs. Thomson had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Pursel, in recent years. Her husband died in 1923. Besides her sister, a daughter, Mrs. Elma Havemann, of Woodburn, survives her. Mrs Thomson was a Charter member of Mt. Gem Rebekah Lodge No.57, and a member of the Women's Relief Corps.
Mrs. Thomson had been in failing health for several years. During her residence in Union she took an active interest in civic affairs and was a leader in the different organizations with which she affiliated. --Union (Oregon) Republican, May 7, 1927
