From The Belle Fourche Bee, page 4, 24 May 1929: Christie M Watts, a resident of SW Montana since 1893, died at his home at Alzada MT Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev J S Kerr of the Methodist Church of Belle Fourche conducted the funeral at Alzada Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Burial was in the cemetery at Alzada. Christie M Watts was born 16 Dec 1858 at Barnes City IA. He came to MT 18 Feb 1893 and made his home in that state until his death, with the exception of 8 years spent at Deadwood SD. He was united in marriage 28 May 1890 to Miss Sarah Ann Motz at Logan IA. Four sons and six daughters were born to this union: Bert C, Christie M Jr, and Clay of Alzada MT; Glen of Loganville IL, Mrs Jesse Shroyer and Miss Lucille Watts of Belle Fourche SD, Mrs John R Johnstone and Miss Ruby Watts of Alzada MT, Mrs Lola Hall of Houston TX; Hazel, the youngest daughter died in infancy. he also leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, six brothers, two sisters, and several grandchildren. In 1897 the family moved to Deadwood where they resided until 1905, when they returned to MT locating on their ranch near the 7W Ranch. Thirteen years ago Mr Watts took up a homestead near Albion MT, where the family made their home until 4 years ago when they moved to Alzada. (submitted by Jean)
