The subject of this sketch whose maiden name was Eliza Blakely was born April 16, 1879 in Philadelphia, Pa., where she lived with her parents until eight years old, when they moved to Kansas. She was married to Frank Cavender in 1886 to which marriage 3 children were born, one of whom, Miss Emma survives her. It is supposed that Mr. Cavender was one of the killed in the cyclone, at St. Louis in 1893. In the year 1899 the deceased was married to John Walter. They moved to A.S. Drake's ranch in April 1901, where they were living until the present time, though they had intended moving onto their own farm in Hodgeman county this spring. Mrs. Walter leaves two baby girls by the last marriage, one two years and one two weeks old. Her poor old mother attended her last days, also Mr. Walter's sister, Mrs. Gleason, of Jetmore.
