Schley History book: G. C. Dyess from Company B 17th Ga regiment was wounded at Malvern Hill, VA July 1, 1862. On the civil war pension letters in the GA virtual vault, he received a Schley County Pension up until 1902. In several places he gives the July 2, 1862 wounded date but in another he gives July 1, 1862. I believe this is the same George C Dyess.
"George C. Dyess enlisted as a Private, Company B ("Schley Vols"), 17th Regiment, Georgia (Volunteer) Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, CSA on Aug 14, 1861. Wounded at the Battle of Malvern Hill, Henrico County, Virginia on July 1, 1862. Roll for Feb 28, 1865, last on file, shows him present. No later record. "
