A Wonderful Woman - Never to Be Forgotten

Mabel D. Pugh , 86, of Afton, died at the Martha Jefferson Hospital on Friday, April 2, 2010.

She was born on January 20, 1924, in Albemarle County, to the late Clarence Coleman Davis and Hattie Wells Davis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Page Pugh; one son, Clarence Daniel Pugh; three sisters, Mary D. Cummings, Joyce L. Davis, and Ruth M. Davis; three brothers, Clarence C. Davis Jr., William H. "Billy" Davis, and Donald C. Davis; one grand-daughter-in-law, Amy Johnson; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Pugh and Helen Terrell; and four brothers-in-law, Bruce Cummings, James Herring, Thurston Terrell, and Gordon Pugh.

She is survived by one daughter, Pattie Page Johnson and her husband, Andy, of Tyro, Virginia; one son, Larry Nelson Pugh and his wife, Susan, of Washington, Indiana; one sister, Dorothy Davis Herring of Charlottesville, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Ginny Davis, Barbara Davis, and Peggy Davis; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mabel graduated from Greenwood High School and worked at the University of Virginia Hospital and was a member of The Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Relief Society.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints missionary fund.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Crozet, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Airport Road, Charlottesville. Interment will follow at Rockgate Cemetery in Crozet. Bishop Mike Schill will be officiating.

Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
