"Veedersburg - Maxine G. Ratcliff, 76, of Rt. 4, Veedersburg, died at 1 pm Friday in Covington Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Ratcliff worked as a secretary until her retirement in 1984. Her memberships included Sterling Christian Church, Troy Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; Daughters of the Nile of Terra Haute and Crawfordsville Lady Elks.

She served as president for the Veedersburg Lioness Club and was past worthy matron of the Valetta Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1936.

She was born Feb. 11, 1918, near Covington, to Pearlie and Stella Fogleman Brewer. She married Dale Ratcliff Aug 11, 1957. He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Anita Louise) Gray of Somerville, Ohio; a step-son, Ted (Betty) Ratcliff of Crawfordsville; a brother, Loren Brewer of Veedersburg; four sisters, Ethel Duncan and Dorothy Kruger, both of Veedersburg; Gertrude Ellis of Kingman and Hazel Gookins of Mellott; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

The funeral is scheduled for 11 am Monday in the Dickerson Funeral Home at Veedersburg with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Sterling Christian Church, the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children and Gideons International."
