Mrs. Caroline Barnhart, who resided with her daughter, Mrs. Susan Huber, at 224 Hummel street (sic), died yesterday morning aged 87 years. She was the oldest resident of the Hill. With her husband, Paul Barnhart, she removed from the Raysor residence, near Progress, to Harrisburg in the spring of 1857 and located on Derry street (sic). This made her the sole survivor of the original settlers of the Hill.

Mrs. Barnhart was a sister of the late Simon Duey and her vigor and activity had long been considered remarkable. She was, up to a week preceding her death, able to attend to her wants and had a keen mind and mental faculties which were not dulled.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Harriet Miller; three daughter (sic), Mrs. Emma Wyant, Mrs. Susan Huber and Miss Caroline Barnhart; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at her late home, 224 Hummel street (sic), on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. Homer Skyles May, of the Fourth Reformed Church, of which she was a member, assisted by the Rev. Ellis N. Kremer, of the Reformed Salem Church.
