She was the wife of Samuel Horace Steele, whom she married on December 24, 1842 at age 16. They had four sons. - John Horace, who died at age 18 and two others, Omar Noah and Samuel Bliss, spent limited periods of time in the Point New Year area. Samuel Bliss, as well as Amanda, may have worked at the Point New Year Store. The fourth son, Charles Edward, purchased the Gazos Ranch in 1880 and lived in the southern San Mateo County coastal region for the rest of his life. Amanda and Samuel Horace Steele moved to the Gazos Ranch in 1879. She lived there until her death in 1895 at age 69. (Photograph courtesy of Isaac Chapman Steele.)
